Pencil artist Henry Montes is a Kansas City native who knows what it's like to come back to life from the dead. A gifted pencil artist who started drawing at age 9, Henry became addicted to cocaine in his 20's and remained addicted most of his adult life. In 2005, Henry experienced a life-changing conversion by receiving Jesus Christ. He was supernaturally delivered from drugs and God began to restore his artistic gift.

Many of Henry's pencil portraits depict well-known Native and Hispanic Americans, a reflection of his own Native and Hispanic heritage.  He has drawn vivid depictions of Chiefs Sitting Bull and Red Cloud, Medicine Crow, Carlos Santana, Mother Teresa, Frida and Diego, Abraham Lincoln, Patrick Mahomes, and many other cultural, religious and artistic icons, along with many commissioned portraits.

Henry credits his completely transformed life to the love and grace of God through His Son Jesus. Three years after being saved, Henry experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This new relationship with the Holy Spirit continues to deepen Henry's life in God all the more. Henry treasures his daily walk with the Lord, spending his mornings with bible study, worship and prayer, and his afternoons drawing.

Henry Montes is a native of Kansas City's famous West Side. He still resides in Kansas City, where together with the "beautiful Christian wife God brought into (his) life," he lives the abundant life God gives.
